I am just finishing uni, and just had my dissertation result back. I am truly disappointed as I just scraped a pass. All my family and friends are so happy for me, yet my Dad I know is very disappointed, as I am not a "grade A" student and has hinted I am thick. He says that anyone who doesn't go to uni is nothing. All these years I worked hard and struggled through because of him. Grades don't make a person though! I realise that now.

Brilliant speech! I been thinking about the whole education system much of the same way for the past 10 years as well as my sister and I think Ken is spot on.

If you enjoy this speech, it was turned into a drumline program. I highly recommend looking up "RCC 2013 State of the Arts"

I agree. Having a degree doesn't make me better than the next person, just means I may have wasted four years with my head in books :(

Well Jews, Christians and Muslims understand dogma as a set of absolute truths, which are then used to develop a system to explain everything. This does kill creativity because when you think you know everything there is no mystery left. The body of knowledge associated with science and the internet do the same.

Science, the internet and Theology don't kill creativity, rather they can be resources of abundant creativity. I think what he is trying to get at is the human creativity as a whole, utilizing the whole being of the human instead of just utilizing one side of the human's brain. Also to change the fundamental principles of school which came from the enlightenment era into fundamental principles that is capable of teaching the humans to function as a whole being rather than one side of the brain.
