I am just finishing uni, and just had my dissertation result back. I am truly disappointed as I just scraped a pass. All my family and friends are so happy for me, yet my Dad I know is very disappointed, as I am not a "grade A" student and has hinted I am thick. He says that anyone who doesn't go to uni is nothing. All these years I worked hard and struggled through because of him. Grades don't make a person though! I realise that now.

He is disappointed in you because he thinks you're thick, and even points it out indirectly? My perspective: Your dad sounds like a class-obsessed cock.

    "I do not tolerate failure."

"Which is why you would make a lousy scientist."

Shredder and Baxter Stockman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, 2003.

Even the writers of children's cartoons get this concept.

I wish that rather than holding you back and punishing you for bad grades, they helped you raise them with learning. I wish there were no grades, so parents wouldn't ground us, because we don't learn like others. I just wish that there was more learning than judging.

schools prevent the right to exercise the first amendment despite preaching it. Its the sad truth, but the American public education system is a joke...
