It's impractical to teach creative subjects to the same level as other subjects. At least here in the UK creative subjects (music/art/creative writing etc) are extremely popular subjects in colleges universities and I'm sure if students had a choice they'd rather focus on one of those rather than "boring" subjects like the sciences and math but the fact is they aren't jobs for 99% of people that graduate with that kind of qualifications and they end up working in supermarkets and the like.
I matriculated in 1961 and went on to college to obtain a diploma in environmental health in order to obtain a secure job.After 33 years I left my job and became a full time musician.The past 11 years have been the happiest of my life.Ken hits the nail on the head.
Mammals learn by playing... including us humans... so can someone tell me why they stick kids into small wooden desks and lecture too them all day and make them do boring things? If you're not having fun you're not learning.
