EDIT: Diago has passed away of unknown causes. He will be remembered, and loved. He will be in our hearts, and "helping" us along they way. Rest in Peace Diago

Ok, I received Diago from a family with three sons 9 and younger. Well there were three birds but the boys didn't know how to play with the birds.. so sadly, they went to a better place in the sky.

Diago is being resocialized, he is terrified of fingers and will hide in that corner when approached. He bites... Very hard, but it is not his fault for this aggression. He now willingly jumps onto my open hand and will preen my hair and play peekaboo in my shirt. But he is very loud and has many times made me temporarily deaf in an ear when he perched on my shoulder.

Diago is a year and a half old and has feet mutations from improper breeding. He has a hard time on perches, but is gradually getting better.

He loves to mimics high pitched noises, like beeps and squeaky doors. He also mimics coughing very well and sometimes when I cough in the middle of the night I hear a little "coughcough" coming from his little house.

Diago loves my female cockatiel, Samy, and sometimes when he's out and about he clings to her cage and whistles at her. When she's out he will follow her around, or more like... chase her. But I never leave them unsupervised.

Lovebirds are from Africa while Cockatiels are from Australia, so they may act friendly, but never let your guard down with birds from different regions.

  • what´s the scream in the background? another bird? it seems like diago is just trying to immitate this ;) my lovebird reproduces my voice too, sounds very cute ^^

  • @drunkn0tilla It is! It is pikachu, my male cockatiel

  • I miss Diago cleaning my teeth!

  • @KnnHamlover me too!

  • @samishizu Whoa you let your bird "clean your teeth"? That's probably the reason why your lovie passed away. The bacteria in the human mouth is dangerous for birds and vice versa.

  • @breeziestar It's not "Actual" cleaning and no we didn't let him, It was just an obsession of his.

  • awww! where did u get ur live bird im thinking of getting one

  • I have 2 lovebirds. i have a small spray bottle.I keep filled with water.I have it set to spray just a little more than a mist. When my 2 start screaming,I tell them "Quiet",and hit them with a quick spray. This doesn't hurt them but it startles them. Now I seldom need the spray bottle. I tell them "Quiet",they usually they shut up.

  • oh my gosh, what an ultimate cutie
