Today during Ben's free-range time I had forgotten to secure Lucky's cage. When I heard fighting I immediately separated them and secured Lucky's cage. What I thought was only wrestling turned out to include a bite on Ben's left rear quarter. The after hours receptionist for Dr Horner, a regional veterinarian who's extremely knowledgeable about rodents, advised me to keep an eye on it. Ben will need to be seen if he becomes lethargic, favors that side or anything else that would indicate infection or an injury more traumatic than it now appears. Ben is such a good rat and I would be devastated if his biological functions permanently ceased. For some reason I thought I would never have to deal with something like this. I feel like such a dummy.

I feel like such a dummy.
