Review of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (PS2)

Given the fact that there's a Prince of Persia movie coming out as well as a new game, I decided to review the Sands of Time trilogy, starting with (surprise!) PoP: The Sands of Time. I'm playing the PS2 version, but the game is available for all major systems of the last generation. Sorry about the bad sound quality, but I haven't bought a new microphone yet.

love this is a great game and play it again every so often. i agree with alot of your points. but the downsides did not ruin it for me.

i do have a question. i have the Gamecube version and that is in normal screen format, is the Ps2 version the same or is it playable in 16:9?

I actually liked the combat in the game. Very basic, yes, but I enjoyed it for some reason. Maybe I liked it because it wasn't IMPOSSIBLE, you know? I mean, challenging at times, but my 5 year old nephew can play this game. The hardest part for him is the puzzle solving/navigating around obstacles. But he loves it, and loves the fighting too.

@tomrudd25 I dislike the combat for quickly becoming repetitive. Why do you have to finish every single enemy with a final blow using the dagger of time? That's so redundant! *_*

great review, I agree with you on the combat.

The only thing you didn't comment on was the puzzle element to this game, which where pretty well done I thought.

@telecomboring Thank you! Well yes, they were pretty good, although most of the time pretty straightforward as well (e.g. the one with the light rays in the library). I guess my favorite puzzle was the one where you had to activate the defense mechanisms of the palace..

Ich fuehre eine Hassliebe zu diesem Spiel... es war frustrierend wie sau, aber es war gleichzeitig wunderschoen und ich liebe das Platforming und die Story... Aber die Alte ging mir aufn Sack. Erst schießt sie mir Pfeile in den Ruecken und 5 Minuten spaeter soll ich sie retten :D Aber das Setting und die Musik sind einfach traumhaft...:)
