How to get Sony to fix your PS3 for FREE

Follow these instructions to get sony to fix your PS3 for FREE. I have done this Twice, and they replaced a 60GB, and a 40GB.

1. Call Sony Corporate: 1-650-655-8000
2. Instruct the Operator that you would like to be connected to Customer Service
3. Tell the CS person that you are fed-up with the Poor relyability of the PS3 system that you currently own and give them a sob story.
4. more then likely the CS person will offer you a "One time Free Repair" and setup the service.
5. They will send you a box for FREE.

We need to convince Sony that they are wrong in charging it's customers for the defect that is the YLOD.

Well you are either really lucky or they stopped doing this. I called twice and even got to talk to the supervisor the second time. I was only offered a $100 trade in and that was it.

@jonesy2061 i believe because of this video more people have flocked to try this method and so they are no longer allowing their customer service reps to do this. But then again i am seeing some pretty recent comments of people getting away with this, so it could be entirely based on the situation and luck.

I looked at all the comments in the past few weeks, it seemed like a 50% chance of this working based on the responses.

I just tried this & was denied a free repair. I am an amazing liar & an even better actor. I gave them the biggest sob story & they wanted $150 USD.

@Penguinattack2 the same goes for me that is all they offered me as well so either he has something special going on with him or he was just lucky bec i wasnt.. and i have called like five diff times and even called four other time saying i was someone else and with a diff. s/n

@jakthebomb Sorry, I didn't include it but the other option which was to get my fat 60g ps3 refurbished for $130 or just go with the $100 trade in for a 120gb ps3 slim. I just got the slim for $100, i wasn't sure how much i should have battled with sony since i was already speaking to a supervisor and even he said they couldn't do it for free after discussing for a bit.
