It's time to get ready for the Japanese festival of Setsubun. Teachers and students
at my school have been getting ready for this festival. It's time to rid the world of evils.
Soy beans are hurled at people wearing "Demon" (Oni) masks in order to drive away bad spirits.

  • i see a U of O shirt! i'm going there! what program were you in?

  • yo man. thanks for teaching me about setsubun. got a bag of setsubunmame from my friend who was visiting from japan. i was curious about the meaning. interesting.

  • Just wondering, you're a primary school teacher teaching English in Japan, right? Did you have to learn Japanese first? It seems like a 'duuuur' type question, but really I just want to know if learning Japanese is completely necessary. (other than the fact it'd be easier to communicate...)

  • I love Zetzubun!!:)

  • and by away I from wales in british country and I not english, I'm welsh.

  • there one question I don't get it, but why some people called oni a demon and devils, but the last time I look on the internet it say here akuma is japanese word for demon or devils and the oni is japanese word for ogres because it almost a same one in western ogres?
