4 & 14 are Chinese.
Hongkongers are very superstitious, a lot of people even take foreign superstitions seriously.

but here in Italy ,"they" are scared by the number 17! 13 is a lucky number!!

"asian" is too general. Filipinos are asians too, but these numbers don't mean anything in their languages (i assume, but i dont really know their languages anyway).
in chinese mandarin or cantonese - the main languages in hong kong - "4" has the same pronunciation as "dead".
