Remarks made by Professor Joe Heyman of UTEP on January 1, 2012 at the Santa Fe Street in El Paso, TX at the entrance to the international bridge that spans the Rio Grande River and crosses into Mexico. NAFTA, the so-called "free trade" agreement was enacted on January 1, 1994. The Occupy El Paso and Occupy Las Cruces groups with other local activist groups met to denounce the effects of NAFTA.
