  • I heard once this republican (someone who wants Britain to be a Republic, not the political party) who said that the Queen came up to him and his friends at a dinner party once, but instead of taking the opportunity to voice his opinions, he just stood there grinning sheepishly, such was the awe she inspired by her presence.

That's impressive for an 80 year old lady.

  • I've heard stories like that as well. They always make me smile! ^_^

  • This isn't a US State Visit, it's a British State Visit because the Queen and Prince Philip VISITED the United States. When George W & Laura Bush visited the UK some years ago - that was a US State visit.

  • The title is meant to imply that it's the Queen's visit to the US...although I can see how you can read it as the opposite! :) "US State Visit" made for a better title then "State Visit to the US" imho.

  • God, if you look in some of these photos, you can see teenagers at these public events just standing around stupidly. At least stand up straight you stupid twits, it's the queen of England!

  • Teens are usually pretty good at being bored and unimpressed. :D

    (Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensor)

  • How many frocks did she take with her on that trip? I'm guessing her British Airways baggage allowance was more generous than most folks!

  • Harry for King ... God Bless King Harry ... The Crown took your heart and soul .

    God Bless Diana ,

King Harry the soldier , knows the working mans heart . like your mother said . " NWO . no more killing or CULLING of the innocent .

  • @Manfromelpaso I understand what you're saying, but technically she is the Queen of England.

And, with your statement, you just slighted millions of people in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Jamaica, Papua New Guinea, The Bahamas, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, The Solomon Islands, and Tuvalu. ;-)

  • @Manfromelpaso

Get it right too, she is the Queen of Great Britain and the Commonwealth....

  • @Manfromelpaso Nearly right. She's the Queen of the Commonwealth!

    :)

  • It's nice to know that there are people out there who appreciate what the brave men and women serving in our (US) and our allies armies! Unlike some stupid movies and so-called children's shows that go out of their way to make them look like cold-blooded killers or inept fools! It's a shame more parents aren't paying closer attention to what their children and teenagers are watching so they discuss some of the contents of various shows!

  • @unterland

When will Americans ever get it right? She not "The Queen of England" , she is the Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain (which comprises England, Scotland and Wales) and Northern Ireland. Please get your facts right...it may seem a trivial matter to you but it pisses off millions of Scots, Welsh and Northern Irish people to hear our monarch continually referred to (and I hate to say it, but its true - usually by US citizens) as the Queen of England.
