MUST READ TO UNDERSTAND
Hello all, I'm extremely excited to introduce you all to my new project.
It's called Spring Awakening 2008. If you don't know by now I am a huge Guilty One (fan of Spring Awakening;) so I wanted to do at least one video about Spring Awakening. Then it came to me. What if I do a series of videos using the storyline and characters of the musical but set it in present time? and BAM!!! I was hooked.
So I will be taking every song from the musical and making a video to it (and possibly some bonus videos along the way)using the people I cast as Melchior, Wendla, Moritz, etc. to try and educate people who can't go see the show in New York about the wonder that is Spring Awakening.
Warning, Spring Awakening is a very racy show and may not be appropriate for some viewers. It covers topics like sex, abuse, and suicide, so if you are not comfortable with these things do not watch the series.
Now onto casting, I will be using actors who are somewhat recognizable just so people can relate to them.
I have an idea who I want to play each character but I am very open to ALL suggestions (unless is is like "Miley Cyrus for Wendla" then I may have to kill you... sorry Katie;). But please if you feel very strongly about who you want to play a character then leave it in the comments or PM me and I will take them into consideration.
Here is a brief description of the characters.
Melchior- handsome, confident
Moritz- sorf of geeky, frazzeled
Wendla- young, innocent, pretty
Thea- short, girly, spunky
Martha- broken, tall, bruised
Otto- average, stocky
Georg- awkward, funny-looking, expressive
Ernst- psst, I already have one, you'll find out later today.
Hanschen- creepy, handsome, manipulative
Anna- cute, strong, confused
If you want to know more about the characters or the story, here is a link to the Wiki page

or you can again PM me and I'll tell you whatever you want.
Okay so that is just the gist of things but I hope people are as excited about this as I am. Thanks

Sounds really amazing. I don't know anything about the play but its coming to Los Angeles so I'm gonna go see it. Can't wait to see what you do with this =]

The only person I could imagine would be Nicholas Hoult for Hanschen. Tony does creep me out at times (when he gets that insane frantic look in his eyes, or after Sid punches him the first time...), and he's amazingly handsom and we all know he's a master at manipulation :)

I could see Amber Tamblyn as a great physical representation of Martha. Renee Olstead (Um vocally, she'd be an amazing Ilse, but we won't go there right now) as Thea. Mae Whitman or Joss Stone as Ilse. Taylor Ball as Georg.

Ahh!! Spring Awakening! Weee! I love it! Anyways, I haven't seen the B-way show but am dying to but know the story line a little so here is my ideas for some characters. Mortiz- immediately Shia LaBeuf (sp?) came to mind, don't know why but he did. Wendla I kind of see Hayden Painetere, maybe, I don't know. If I think of any more suggestions will let you know. Awesome project Liz!!

Goody! I was actually thinking Alexz Johnson might be good as Ilse...just a thought. Oh! In addition; Nina Dobrev as Thea, Kristin Kreuk as Wendla (I think she can pull it off) and MAYBE Nicholas D'Agosto as Melchior.
I DID mention how glad I was that you were doing this, yes?

Oooooh, this is a great idea. *could have some fun with this* I think Jake Goldsbie would make a great Otto or Georg, Bethany Joy Lenz has the skills to play Martha or maybe Anna and...hey, you ARE casting Ilse, right?
