@56mikeo No, definitely not! But he would make a remarkable Beckmesser!

@56mikeo Sorry to say this, but I totally agreed.

Forget that, vocally, Hampson is far from an ideal match for the role. What's really tragic here is how dramatically flat and lifeless this scene is. One of the most sinister and powerful scenes in 20th century opera manages in this instance to barely even register a reaction.

Unimaginable!!! Many tenors are heavier than this!!!! Ludicrous and destructive to true art!! He obviously is a narcissist.

Where was this supposed to be? Chicago in the 30's? Was Al Capone really Scarpia? Was this an SNL spoof of Tosca? Dreadful

TERRIBLE!!!!IS HE SO STUPID????????

tragic..simply tragic...

Hahahaha! A Yorkshire terrier trying to sound like a St. Bernard.... and failing!
Such a musical person and a great artist making a total fool of himself.
Incomprehensible! Can't he judge? Doesn't he have friends he trusts who could tell him the sad truth?

Merci Hampson !
