I'm sure these lyrics are mostly right.. Some of the lines I just couldn't figure out... Any corrections are kindly apreciated.


Oh they shot Huey Long in Louisana
As he walked down the capital steps

As he took on the capitalist

Poverty was his share back in childhood
He was one of a bounty of nine
There began the clay hills of Louisana
But he soon left those red hills behind
And at sixteen he left a place called the Winn Parish
went to Shreveport where he went to school
They expelled him for starting some trouble
Claimin' that Huey broke every rule

Through a short span of years he gained power
Threw it at 'em and end of it all
He was kind he was cruel with his power
Then they made him a state senator
He was soon known through out as the law in this land
And the folks known to him right or wrong
Louisana has lost a great leader
When that bullet went through Huey Long

It don't matter what feels and believes in
but there's long been an adage that's said
Huey Long always fought in the open
Ran that for and he had no fear
He made friends he made foes many times came to blows
Ever fighting what he thought was wrong
