Film shot in 1992 by Patrick Treacy showing the tranquil beauty of Lough Melvin near the village of Garrison Co. Fermanagh. Lough Melvin is internationally renowned for its unique range of plants and animals. Located in the northwest of Ireland in the counties of Leitrim and Fermanagh, the lake covers an area of 2000 ha and is famous for its early "run" of Atlantic salmon. Due to the diversity and rarity of Lough Melvin and its species, the lake has been designated as a candidate Special Area of Conservation (SAC) under the EU Habitats Directive in Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. The background music is "Sposa son Disprezzatta", sung by Cecilia Bartoli and is from Vivaldi's pasticcio Bajazet. The composer is Geminiano Giacommelli, from his opera "Merope" (Venice 1734). Originally the text by Apostolo Zeno is "Sposa, non mi conosci".

  • Beautiful though it is the singer is not Cecilia Batoli.

  • Thank you for comment. I had long suspected this was "Sposa son Disprezzatta" sung by someone else as I listened to Cecilia Batoli on YouTube.
