Song was played on a hand made diddley bow, which is a single stringed instrument and played with a slide. The one shown here was made from an antique drawer front.

  • Very nice! I couldn't see any pickup - where did you put it and what type of pickup are you using?

  • @signeponge Hi there . I get this question often. It's a inexpensive clip on contact pickup(piezo). I believe the secret to getting good sound with these is the right amp. I love plugging into my little roland cube amp - I rarely plug into my tube amp anymore - I just love the tone and portability of this mean little tone machine. Thanks for the question.

  • I like a deep, low sound. I use mostly low e string on a guitar and tune it down to a D- thanks for the question.

  • This is really good - can I ask what you're using for the bridge? Potlid?

  • @curiousjapan I used a paint can lid. Thanks for the question

  • HAHA any chance you will give my that diddley bow :D

  • @kingovviking You never know..... check under your bed after midnight tonight - whooooohahaaaahahhah. just kidding - I'm attached to this new instrument for now. You should really try building one. They are a lot of fun to build. Search "one String willie"

  • @wadester1969 : Thank you so much for your answer. I'm planning on building a diddley bow myself and I was wondering what would be the best way to amplify it afterwards. Keep on!

  • The video was great! good job man. :D

  • You did your THANG! Nice job.

  • what string you put on it?

  • This was so cool! Now I want a diddley bow too.

  • @wadester1969 Thanks! After watching your videos, I went and built one of my own (it's on my youtube account). It's a bit rough and ready, but I've got some ideas for improving it. :)
