  • Merci à Robert Lepage !

  • @CHC4669 We'lljust have to disagree on Vinnie, then. And thats not to say I don't agree with your other thoughts. I loved Omar with Sting and he brought his own feel to that band. But a totally different sound to Sting at the time with Branford, Kenny Kirkland, and Daryl Jones. You can't really compare. I also agree on Weckl...great chops and monster technician...not a lot of feeling for me. I'd rather listen to Kenny Aronoff who showed litlle in the way of chops but great feel and time.

  • @plecain I like Vinnie and I respect his chops but there are so many drummers more feel then Vinnie. As good as he was with Sting the band sounded so much better with Omar Hakim who is so much more expressive. I mean Vinnie has his licks but Omar is so much more creative and expressive within the music. With Weckl and Vinnie it's as if you know what their gonna do before they do it. The slick licks are fine but that's not what inspires me to play drums. It's how one interprets the music.

  • @CHC4669 I may agree with you on the Weckl thing. But Vinnie is a monter...a monster with soul. I'd say from that time frame...Manu and Vinnie stood above the rest.

  • Peter Gabriel seems like a cheeseball to me (nice outfit!) and is in that sort of Sting/music for yuppies category, but man, Manu makes these songs so darn interesting. And I suspect Levin's prodigious talent is partially responsible for pushing him to the heights he reached on this tour.

  • @funkfanNo1 you re forgetting Steve Gadd! Talk about soul when he plays!!

  • @funkfanNo1 Manu has more soul and feeling then Weckl and Vinny both put together. His idea's just flow.. He has a style all his own and doesn't sound like any other drummer. That alone allows him to stand above the others. Add to that he can play it all from funk to jazz and rock and still shine. He's not just a drummer but a truly gifted musician. The drummers you've mentioned are all great of course but Manu Katche has a spirit I don't hear in the others. He touches the soul.

  • how does beaujames59 know what gay pornstars look like?

  • @funkfanNo1 -

Those who can, do - those who can't, sit around and criticize / disrespect on YouTube.

I think it likely that Mr. Weckl, Mr. Colaiuta, and Mr. Campbell (along with Mr Bruford, Mr. Mastelotto, Mr. Alan White, Mr. Bozzio, Mr. Wackerman, and a whole host of others) would be embarrassed to be associated with your comment ...

  • Manu Katche. Over-Rated. For all of you who are jizzing over him and claiming him to be the greatest drummer ever, see Mr Dave Weckl, Mr Vinnie Colaiuta and Mr Teddy Campbell.....
