  • No-one else in the public eye has captivated me so much as the incomparable Dirk Bogarde. His talent, artistry and riveting personality have astonished me again and again. He embodied English upper-class originality at its highest level. With all his weaknesses of character, Dirk was one of England's greatest creative artists in modern times. (I'm a bit of a fan).

  • what a great person dirk was and for those who wrote heinous remarks only one remark comes to mind: get a life!

  • Oh fucking shut up with that hackneyed old shit. In what way does the cliche that the British invented the WORD concentration camp have any connection whatsoever with the Holocaust.

Such a lazy, ill-informed thing to say.

  • No they didn't. The United States invented the concentration camp in the "American civil war".

  • There are many depressed people in these videos. I wonder why, when we think that a lot of them were "successful"?

  • Belsen concentration camp

"We didn't know what they were".

But the British invented concentration camps in the Boer wars!!!

  • that film was Great !!! But my fav was Death in Venice.

  • We would all prefer if my comment was "bullshit" but alas, serious historians, reviewers and scholars have concluded from examining Bogarde's war service in detail that he could not have been present at the liberation of Belsen or any other camp. He was probably influenced by what he read, by films etc. This does not mean that he was not a great actor, he was. And his anger at the Holocaust was entirely justified even if he did not personally witness it
