What a waste of $! PETA and the Humane Society spend more money, lobbying, euthanizing, and claiming to save dogs! . I am fascinated by the amount of effort that has gone into creating each breed for a particular purpose. I buy/adopt pure bred dogs, from reputable breeders. The notion that me buying a dog from a breeder is killing a dog in a shelter is ridiculous! I am tired of being persecuted for having a purebreds. If you can’t keep him it is your responsibility to find him a home.

instead of making a commercial opposing people buying dogs instead of adopting dogs, they should just take it a step further and make the commercial oppose shelters killing dogs in the first place...go to the source of the issue.

I can appreciate the idea behind it but the general message of the commercial makes it seem like you're condemning a pooch if you buy one instead of adopting. Although it'd be preferable to adopt when you can, you can't save them all. A happy pup is a happy pup, love'm either way

@newfsgoldensgalore If you have room in your home and your heart for a dog, why not adopt one from a shelter? You could save a life, instead of just lining some breeder's pockets. When you choose to buy a dog instead of adopting, that's one more dog left in the shelter that will probably be killed. You also show breeders that they can turn a profit by breeding, encouraging them to produce even more litters.

So if everyone adopted their dogs from shelters, then wouldnt the dogs born to breeders end up at the shelter anyway if no one buys them?...just a thought

@newfsgoldensgalore If you already own a dog, no one is telling you to get rid of it, that is silly. The message is for people who are considering buying a dog, or may in the future. No one is blaming you for finding your companion :P But the shelter dog population needs to go down, we have great dogs and cats out there who need help, from people who are looking for a friend.

All the message is, is to consider adoption, before you run out and buy a pet store dog or a breeder. If you don't want to, you don't have to, but it's the compassionate choice to give these shelter dogs a chance. The demand for store dogs needs to lessen, so all those cats and dogs dont need to be euthanized by the truck load, because of the lack of funds to care for them. There are more shelter dogs than store dogs, and they need you.
