(Old Video) Hold Downs & Escapes ( Basic )

In the basic hold, you are at your opponent's right side and have their right arm trapped with your left arm. Your right arm is wrapped around their neck. Your weight is leaning on his upper chest and your hips are in close to their side. One of the complexities is how much of your weight should be on your opponent and how much to their side. For stability, your right (bottom) leg is forward and your left (top) leg is back.

Other things you might want to try to escape:

Use your left hand and peel the left side of their jaw, use your right foot, and hook their right leg and pull. If you're flexible, try to left arm bar them by throwing your right leg over the attackers head, pulling the leg back and cranking their arm.
