Yes I did blend it. If you do not want to you do not have to. Depends upon how you like your lentils.

hi thanks for the recipe, when you wait for the oil to separate each time, do you have the heat on high or is it meant to be low heat? I never seem to get the oil coming out everytime! thanks!

I do it on medium heat or simmer. Low should also work. Be patient, if the oil is not separating it means that there is still water that needs to be cooked down. As you may have seen in all my videos it works all the time. Hope it starts working for you too.

Can we use fresh onion if we don't have ready onion? does the onion taste different then fresh? I also see so many different kinds of lentils at the Indian store,and I want to use then can you give me names of recipes with lentils . Thanks

@um2abdsusu -no the onion does not taste different. Fresh is better.
