Today I do a little bit of Macro Shooting with my Canon EOS 40D, I will show how I set up the shot, and explain the settings. I apologize for the sound of the running water my pool has a fountain thing in it, didn't realized it until after the shoot.

For more photos check out my photostream: http://flickr.com/photos/jakeoconnell/

For the photos I took in this Video search for the tags: 'MACROVIDEO'

Music: Darude - Sandstorm

EDIT: NOT MACRO! STFU you people can't just accept the fact it says macro, if you dont like the music, sorry. buy your own cameras, get your own skills, and make your own videos.

  • Music is gay as hell like you! You need to get a real lens you jack ass! At least 2.8 aperture or below so you can blow the fucking background at you moron!

  • @Captaintrolltard you are totally right Captrainrolltard, I should probably go kill myself now.

  • at the end of the day it was a great pic, there wasnt much talking anyway - put it on mute if you dont want to hear the music..?

  • hi ...

nice capture with a very simple setup...congrats.

what about the water spray and your DIY

softbox ???did you use them with this shot??

  • @TheEos50d The water no, the softbox yes!

  • shut off the music

  • Im sure people have brought up your poor choice of music, but honestly.. Im only gonna bring up the point of why would you add music to your video if youre going to be speaking in it? Ive never understood that. It might sound boring with no music, but we'd rather hear what youre saying, not trying to do both. My advice.

    Anyway, nice tripod.

  • OMG! I hade one of those tripods, liek 10-15year ago.

    Nice flashback!

  • @Captaintrolltard Fuck off Captain dipshit. I saw him make a video , all you did was bitch.

  • Nice end result, Jake. You need to get setup with some proper Macro kit with nice big aperture. Bit expensive, but if photography is your main hobby, easy to justify to the parentals. You've got some obvious talent, and interest in the field. Keep it up.

  • Good effort,,, and great pic,,,that all that matter,,,nice work kid..

  • @JakeOConnell

    Don't question da photografa gangstah!

  • @carloss1960 you use lighting for marco because it will realy bring the picture come to life (i dont know exact reason why but it just does) and usualy you can simulate dew which is a awesome macro technique

  • So, what was the blue box for, a light diffuser? I noticed you didn't use it in the shot. And what the heck is that round in a square thing you held up to the bug before you took your shot? Also, what was the spray bottle for? Please answer, I'm not being a wiseguy, I'm just trying to learn.
