Composers Inside Electronics' realization of the sound environment "Rainforest V", presented by Harvestworks in Fort Jay on Governor's Island, for the 2011 New York Electronics Arts Festival: www.nyeaf.org
"Rainforest V" is a sound environment created by Composers Inside Electronics, and first presented in Mexico City in 2010. The core concept of the piece -- found and constructed objects used as instrumental loudspeakers, with unique sounds created specially for them -- came from electronic music pioneer David Tudor, and CIE formed following a Rainforest workshop led by Tudor in 1973. CIE has since then presented "Rainforest IV" as a performed installation close to 40 times in North America and Europe. "Rainforest V" was developed by CIE in 2010 as a long-duration sound environment not requiring live performance.
Composers Inside Electronics has involved many different artists and musicians over the years. On this occasion the group consisted of John Driscoll, Phil Edelstein and Matt Rogalsky.
