The man is an absolute legend - my fav bowler after Warne.

Lots of players agree he was a good player, and if you read what I post you'll see I'm not disagreeing with that. Unfortunately his sledging and inability to take it back diminished a good bowling record.

Sledging is part of the game, until Australian players are subjected to it. Then Ponting's "what happens on the field stays on the field" rule goes out the window, particularly when losing the Ashes or on a tour to India. You're hypocrites.

McGrath was a good bowler, but he sledged like almost no other. He contributed to the negative view most cricket followers have of what was a great Australian team ruined by sledgers who couldn't take it back.

If you want to look at bowling legends of the game, look at the great West Indians. Not McGrath.
