Actually, besides the touching nature of the interaction, I liked the openening with the pre-NASA moon shot showing stars.

Actually the first shot where you were flying looked very realistic. Should have been just a tad longer, and a bit less of your son's reaction, so it could really sink in. Fun stuff!

'Up/Down,On/Off,Slow/Fast'-I bet you'd have to train for years to master these complicated controls! But how do you turn the friggin' thing???

This brings back memories of movie serials.

Where can I buy boots and tight fitting pants and a cape and belt like from Flash Gordon's Trip to Mars?Like what Flash had.

Thankfully, many dads find a way to be heroes to their sons even w/o any rockets. Trouble is, some of them never realize they've achieved that status until they're on their death beds. Some never find out in time.
Call your Dad.

"READY?" Yes! I'm even willing to grow a mustache if I can get my rocket pack just a day earlier!

It's been a while since Mr. Lobo has felt proud to be an American. Thanks Gary.
Nice. A springboard takeoff like they used to use would have been better, but you'd probably want an actual stuntman doing that.
When I heard about this I wasn't so sure a small model would look good in the flying sequences. The Lydeckers used a larger then life dummy for those. But that was excellent.
I'm looking forward to the finished work. The Rocketman is a character that's been out of sight for way too long. IMHO he needs to live in the Republic Serial world, not the CG world of today.

Thanks for the good words! We're gloriously low-tech here, no CGI needed.
Actually, a small trampoline and grab bar rig was used for the original take-offs, which is where I got the idea.
The miniature definitely looks best in long shots!
Back to the lab...
