  • No problem bud, i am starting my project this weekend. Maybe I'll upload some photos. I'll try that HydroBon instead of the red guard i was going to use.

    Thanks

  • I will be waiting to see your progress. Good luck, take your time and you will be fine. This is not brain surgery.

  • proithero, I am sorry I deleted your comment by accident. I hit remove instead of reply. You can repost it and then I will look clairvoyant.

  • @ceramictiletonight

What kinda slope do you have onna ceiling? How many inches per foot or what total in what span?

    thankx

  • @zengel442 I believe i used a1 inch per foot slope on the ceiling.

  • proithero, The backer board is Permabase. I like this backer for two reasons. first it is lighter than other brands and second it has a fiberglass wrap on it's long edges. The fiberglass wrap also has a tapered edge for easier finishing between the sheets. The caulking was Relyon, the spelling may be incorrect on this product. The caulk was a siliconized acrylic latex caulk that turned clear when it dried. The waterproofing i used was Laticrete Hydro-ban. This is a great product also.

  • @radish64x Yeah, I just talked to the Laticrete reps and they said 6 mil vapour barrier behind the backer and then hyrdo ban on the backer board.

  • Wonder if this steam shower has fell apart yet. Hydroban isn't spec'd for steam showers w/o the use of a vapor barrier. To bad you didn't put one in first. Looks nice but probably has wet moldy framing no one will ever see.

  • Thanks, i'll let my tile guy know!

  • You need the floor pan in a steam shower too. You just have to do all the additional steps covered in the video to keep it water tight. Steam is under pressure and it will find an opening if one exists. Thank you for your comments.
