Steve Carlisle, President of General Motors Southeast Asia Operations and Chevrolet Sales Thailand is here to unviel the Volt Concept (2) to Thai motorists and spectators.

I'd say it's another important event (for GM) after GM Next Tech Tour.

Chevrolet is one brand in Thailand with environment in mind vehicles. Optra CNG models are the first compact passenger vehicles with CNG tank and Bi-Fuel system to sell in Thailand. Colorado CNG with DDF system is also the first truck of this kind to Thai market. And recently, Aveo just can acceptable with E20.

  • I am currently looking at buying a car in Thailand and I would prefer a greener option. Unfortunately, the Volt will have a price tag of 3,000,000 THB which is out of my price league. They have the Camry here but that too is expensive when a similar car (petrol driven) made by Honda/Toyota/Nissan can be bought for 500,000 to 800,000 THB. The Proton PersonaCNG seems like the best option. Do Cheverolet want to make money? Get the Volt in at a reasonable price and I'd snap one up.

Camry Hybrid is already a least expensive hybrid vehicle because it's just assembled in Thailand. If the Volt do so, price tag maybe lower than that.

  • In fact I agreed so. Few brands won't be copycat of anyone even concept vehicle like this.

I've looked at the Camry hybrid and I'm aware that they're made in Thailand. They're simply too expensive. Hopefully if the Volt is made here in Thailand we can look at a price war that will help the consumer and the environment.
