Yes, I know Ernie Howlett Park very well, along with other places in PV. Lived in Walteria. Showed at Howlett several years ago doing dressage. Good luck with your show. I am far away in Montana now, so can't go watch. Hope you post a video.
Will do. We have been practicing this winter and we might get to go to some more schooling shows in early spring. I would like to go to a couple of the county fairs up here. (BTW I used to board at PV Stables several years ago.)
Well, for one thing, you could be more polite in your comments. That was our first showmanship class ever (check the title. The mare was mouthy, no doubt, working on it. As to knowing what to do, I had been taught by someone who always did the judging a certain way. The judge moved in the opposite direction and I was thrown for a moment. As to the pivots, we are getting better. It is all a work in progress. And if you watched the film all the way through, you would know what placing we got.
If anyone is curious, Alev is a PMU (pregnant mare urine) foal rescued by United Pegasus Foundation in 1997 at an auction where she was in a group of foals being sold by the pound. We do not know Alev's breeding except that she is half draft. Our best guess is that she is Shire and Saddlebred, but that is just a guess. We were lucky enough to adopt Alev as a weanling and raise and train her. Normally she does dressage, but we are expanding our repetoire. We think she turned out pretty well.
