I was stationed there as a Radioman from April 1984 to June 1987. Those who were there at the time, can you post your name or your parents names? Im sure I remember you and your parents while there in the mid 80s.

@BuddysDove We were there in 1960-63 -- we lived in a Quonset hut at first. The first part of this video looks like our street in the housing area.

We were there in 1960-63. This looks like our street in the housing area. I recognize the stairs leading up to the front houses. We did have a private vehicle -- a 1956 Ford station wagon. When my mother drove it to downtown Chinhae we were mobbed by people who came out from everywhere to check us out. We made so many friends and people got used to seeing my mom and our big blue station wagon. Still love Korea!

@flipc1, I was in Chinhae in 1965, what a change, all Koreans wore traditional dress, only military vehicles downtown, mostly oxen drawn carts. Open sewer ditches everywhere, duffy's taveren was off the base down by the ballfield. There was a large anchor near the base entrance. Amazing the change

was there in 1965, the base looks somewhat the same, but downtown looks totally different, no private cars, only militay vehicles and oxen drawn carts. All Koreans wore traditional dress or men in military uniforms. No police, the whole country was under martial law, can't believe the change

Awesome! We were there from 86-88. Good times. I went to CT Joy Elementary. Nowadays I'm limited to Air Force bases :) Thanks for bringing back the memories!

Oh wow...I lived in the base in '97 to '01 and attended ct joy elementary school too. The cherry blossom festivals were always fun. I loved it there. Best memories of my childhood was spent in chinhae. Im really glad you put up this video! I've always wanted to go back and visit!
I remember this place inside the US base!looks still the same. brings back childhood memories first scene: the houses down the hill thats where my friends used to live. I attended C. turner joy school back in the mid '80's navy brat here. Since my dad retired from the navy, I've been longing to see this place. Thanks for sharing this video. =)
