The Civil Rights Act was officially proposed by a Democratic congressman, navigated through Democratic-led House committees, was tabled by a Democratic speaker, passed and sent to a Democratic Senate, tabled again by a Democratic Senate Majority Leader, passed again, and signed into law by a Democratic president. @Tokopol Sorry - the GOP overrode the Dems to bring the bill to a final vote. Without the GOP the bill was going to be fillabustered. You need to always remember that the Dems are the racists. They owned slaves and fought against the North. They continued to fight against blacks when they formed the KKK and created the seperate but equal and Jim Crowe laws.
