-Set Stereo Mix as Default Device

This was clear and helpful plus with additional info in the Windows 7: Finding Stereo Mix clip as well. Something to include, Audacity didn't acknowledge the change and when I hit record I kept getting the, "error while opening sound device" until I shut Audacity down and opened it up again.

@LukeWapelhorst thanx i got it,thanx.the problem was with the volume output slider being up.when you record with it up it gives a crazy ringing,and an echo.

In the new beta version, there is an option in the toolbar where you can choose the playback and record devices. You can skip this video, and just choose the "Primary Sound Capture" from the drop-down menu on the lower toolbar.
