  • So does the snow ever melt between the first snow and like may?

  • The first laying snow occurs in October (usually). From then until it melts in late April/May the ground is white. Our roads are plowed of course, but the landscape is snow-covered.

  • i know that fairbanks has ice fog quite alot. but is it a phenomenon that pretty much only happens in the fairbanks area?...or does it happen all over central alaska? just curious.

  • It can happen anywhere it gets so cold that condensation freezes mid-air, but I think it's more common in the interior where we have the sub-arctic temps of -50F.

  • do you like living in fairbanks?

  • yes, I do! It's a community with great people, and I love the scenery too.

  • I live in Denver and I am dying to move up there. I hear the summers are amazing. I do have one question about the summers, what kind of thunderstorm activity do you get? I am assuming it's rare, but i keep reading how the area to the east of Fairbanks is the hail capital of AK. Do you get any good thunderstorms?

  • It is nice, and the people are nice too. The winters are long, cold and dark, but the summers are beautiful. If you can deal with -40 temperatures, come on up!

  • I've never really seen snow without it looking 'fake' as it does in movies; I've seen it once through webcam. But this video totally makes me want to see it in person now.

  • i might move to fairbnks

it just depends on some stuff.

    is it nice theree ??

  • I love it here too.The extremes, the people, wildlife not far away. Fishing.

  • It happens in low lying valleys like Fairbanks. It happens elsewhere to. Its caused by temp inversions. The same reason why LA gets smoggy. Here its just so cold everything freezes. Any moisture from everything it freezes and cannot evaporate

  • 2:30- your cat turned into a dog
