This is the Kraken at Sea World in Orlando, FL. It was built by B&M from Monthy, Switzerland. It's a floorless steel roller coaster that opened on June 1, 2000. It's 149 ft tall with a first drop at 144 ft with a top speed of 65 mph and a track lenght of 4'177 ft long with a total ride time of 2:02. The elements of which there are 7 are as follows. Loop, Dive Loop, Zero G Roll, Cobra Roll (two inversions), Loop, Corkscrew.

For those who were wondering where the Kraken name comes from. I believe it can be found in mariners tales from when humans began sailing across the oceans to as late as the 1750's. The Kraken was described as a long beastly Squid like animal that attacked sailing ships with it's tentacles that were so long that it could reach the top of the ships main mast. It would then drag the ship to the bottom and eating or drowning the crew along the way. The Kraken could also sink ships merely by coming near the surface when it rose from the depths or by sinking them in it's whirlpool when it decended to the depths of the ocean.

  • this ride has an AWESOME first drop

  • @MCfilms13 Especially if you sit in the back row.

  • I had no idea Kraken was silenced... O_O

  • @RocketRodder Yeah they put gravel and sand in the supports, box beams, and rails when they built it to help muffel the noise. A large residential area called Williamsburg is litterally right across the four lane highway from Sea World.

  • i hear tht this ride is really bumpy and jerky. in other words extreme whiplash. i'm new to rollar coasters so how bad is it exactly...?

  • @warriorcatloverr Its really quite smooth.
