What's wrong with it being heavy on characters and romance? I like that this wasn't another dumb survival with nonstop action and no character development. I think their relationship in this makes the show a lot better. Granted, BR, Gantz, and Eden were a lot better but I think Btoom! has something going for it and shouldn't be tossed aside cause it doesn't have enough explosions and action.

I don't really like SAO. I don't hate it, but in MY opinion BTOOOM! is so mich better. The most annoying thing on SAO is that the main Character (forgot his name) was too perfect. He was always kind to everyone, the best of the best from the very beginning, in my eyes he was boring, just like the girls in SAO. The story is awesome, and that's it. That's why I like BTOOOM! much better.

actually, I had great respect for kirito until shit happened and he fell in love with asuna. Not that I'm hating on their thing since it was needed for the story to progress, hwevr, i do agree that Im kinda off due to their relationship i'd prefer if it didn't focus on their relationship but in the lives of the characters instead. I just saw Kirito and Asuna developing individually but what about the others who got stuck in that hell hole? or what about the creator? Stuff that were not focused.

BTOOOM was an okay series in my opinion. Would have been better if there had been more episodes. But I strongly hated SAO and its romance. completely ruined the show for me.

action is good itself but adding romance gives a wider audience to people out there and makes it more interesting
