I've done the research, and I'm confident that this is the fastest self-resetting, piston elevator in Minecraft (without mods). It'll take you from bedrock to the clouds in 6 seconds. This is all thanks to what I'm calling the watermelon seed concept.

I made this tall thing just to prove how fast this elevator design is, and that it is capable of stacking infinite times. The design is only limited by the space available in Minecraft. In a normal world, this elevator can have up to 26 floors (all of which you can go up & down from). See the original version with 4 floor (http://youtu.be/2dhwX2B3zzI). I already have plans on making this design faster, and/or more versatile.

IMPORTANT: You must be standing in-between the two stacks of pistons (shown by the black & white wool blocks on the ground) in order for the elevator to work properly. You must also step off the elevator immediately after reaching a higher floor, or else you'll be sucked back down. Why would you want to stay on the elevator after reaching your floor anyways?

  • Can you expalin how it works? O_o never seen something like that, great design :D

  • @FuckinSpenky Thanks! Being stuck inside pistons while they're expanding causes the player to be rapidly shot to the top. This works better if stuck in-between pistons. Each level has two columns: a block on top of a piston, on top of another piston. When these stacks push out from the side, the player becomes trapped inside the stacks. When these stacks expand, they push the player on top of the stack. From there, the process is repeated over and over again until the player reaches the clouds.

  • My elevator uses 6,5 sec from bedrock to sky :(

  • please don't use 3rd person view when showing off inventions, it makes it harder for us to see. but other then that. this is a neat design

  • nothing can beat...the fall on water elevator :D

  • Etho is prob gunna try this

  • So, I've tried this design out and the speed is very impressive. However, I also got crushed several times in the design (about one ride in three) and it's hard to tell when you get to the floor you want.

  • that looks painful =p

  • That is sick! I am going to download this one lol.
