I love this show, love ALTON (some of the kiddies get his name wrong, for some reason), but I'm convinced that any concept of "origin" is so mired in geographical happenstance and linguistic contingency, that anything can be "American," as long as people living in the US make it and eat it. Good eats knows no cultural criteria.
