This is from the New Years day 2010 paddle with the Greater Baltimore Canoe Club (GBCC) on the Lower Gunpowder.
So I started off on the bad 'blade' have you. One botched ferry attempt on the first rapid followed by another graceful eddy turn thereafter. Still I kept high spirits in that I had the skill to finish this run without much incident. Somehow I managed to flop over in a tiny little hole and was not happy about that. This put me in the for 'First Swim or the Year Award' with the club but I feel the other runner up probably had a better and more deserving win than I. Mine was more of an exit to standing position due to my cat like reflexes clawing the bottom with my paddle instead of using a bracing stroke like I should have.
The rest of the run was a BLAST!!! I Very much enjoyed Fall Line! Was so amped about it the rapid that I would have ran my boat back to the top of the rapid just to run it again.
Unfortunately my batteries ran dry from two days of use, loosing out on some would be great footage of S-Turn. All I can say is next time!!
Special thanks to Dale for the river betta and coaching through this sweet trip! I look forward to many more outings with the club!
Hopefully I get the chance to run this soon. I've been kayaking for a few years now and took a roll class. Did my first combat roll while hitting mollys hole on antitem creek.
