California travel expert Veronica Hill of http://www.CaliforniaTravelExpert.com tours Loews Coronado Bay Resort in this episode of "California Travel Tips."

Consistently ranked one of the top family hotels in the nation, Loews Coronado Bay Resort in Coronado San Diego seems to have it all — sun, sand, surf and three separate swimming pools.

Hi, I'm Veronica Hill with California Travel Tips. Let's take a 2-minute tour of this fun family resort. And did I mention you can bring your dog too?

Located just 8 miles north of Mexico in sunny Coronado, San Diego, Loews is a gorgeous Mediterranean-style resort that has a great South-of-the-border vibe, complete with a rockin' poolside cantina, great tropical drinks and swaying palm trees keeping the beat.

In addition to a great kids club with loads of activities, Loews pool deck is a top draw with separate swimming areas for children, families and adults.

Adults will enjoy the lush Sea Spa, known for its warm beach stone massage, the marina-side tennis courts, and the romantic sunset gondola rides through The Gondola Company.

Loews rooms are spacious and clean, decorated in a breezy California style. Most have views of either the ocean, marina or San Diego Bay, with the 2 1/2 mile Coronado-San Diego Bridge in the distance.

Outside the resort, Silver Strand State Beach, ranked one of the nation's Top 10 beaches, is just steps away. Just five miles north of Loews is the historic Hotel del Coronado and historic Orange Avenue shopping district.

This pet friendly hotel caters to your canine's every whim. Dog surfing lessons are offered through the Coronado Surfing Academy. (They also teach people, too!)

If you're here during the summer, don't miss the annual Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surfing Dog Competition held each June in Imperial Beach. It's a major crowd pleaser, drawing entries from around the world.

I'm Veronica Hill, and that's your California Travel Tip.

  • hey thats where we had our prom! kool

  • How fun! What a great place for a prom!

  • We really enjoyed the resort as well! The dog surfing contest was such a fun family event. What's nice is that the dog surfing lessons are offered year-round, along with regular surf camps for people.

I think you're on to something with dog kayaking! People are always looking for goofy things to do with their pets, especially here in California where dog strollers are becoming as common as baby strollers!

  • i live in Coronado

  • AWESOME! :D

  • This is where I stayed! It is on that spit of land and you have to drive by the Hotel del Coronado to get to it. It was a very nice place, just as you described. Dog surfing! You folks in California are so creative. Maybe we here in the Midwest can do dog kayaking when our rivers flood and levees break! Great video. Keep 'em coming!
