  • @09bassman I agree that insurance should be able to be seen as cost vs. risk as opposed to required. If required, the insurance companies will be the greatest benefactors.

  • @brasspatriots I'm usually cheering on the Dems but I hope the health care bill gets ripped apart before the required insurance kicks in. As soon as they gave up on the public option, the bill became largely about increasing the profits of insurance companies. There are good parts that should be kept regarding making sure people who are already sick can be covered. I heard there will be a way to apply for religious exemption, so I may look into that if it comes to fruition.

  • it's so unconstitutional for the government to require people to buy something and pay a fine if they don't... it's called socialism

  • Insurance is something one buys if it is cost effective to do so. If the cost is less than the risk. That varies from person to person. How are we all to pay a fair amount when some people are fat smokers and others are health nut runners? There is also the issue of funding abortions with tax $, and illegal immigrants receiving benefits. Also, who is the Government to say what I can or can't afford. It will destroy the supply/demand curve in the industry, and we get less competition.
