  • hi there, can anyone gimme ideas how to do a documentary for a mamak? my lecturer does not want too much of interviews,....

    any ideas

  • Watch an existing documentary about restaurants or food culture, and draw inspiration from it.

  • You miss some more important criteria:

    1. You have to wave like crazing to make sure the 'ane' notice you esp during peak hours.

    2. Most waiters are not Malaysian. They are expatriate from India, and may not understand Malay or English.

    3. The famous "Sekali or asing" question when to pay.

  • Thanks for the input. The amateur project was done with a deadline so we could not fit it too many things.

  • aneh..... milo panas satu kurang manis.

    bagi dia ais manis.

man..... this is the place where u dine at 4am.

good job guys!! only one little comment.

i assumed u have spent too much on the clip that

u ran out of budget to hire more professional actors.

  • Thanks. Well, this was merely a class project so all the persons you see in this video is either pro bono or candid.

  • Why is it unappropriate to use your fingers? You are at a mamak stall, USE YOUR FINGERS! If we were at a chinese store we would use chopsticks! NO DOUBLE STANDARDS!

  • As far as I know, as long there's banana leaf rice, it ain't a mamak stall and Mamak is an Indian Muslim. To me, places that sells banana leaf rice are just Indian Curry house restaurants.

  • @RedPlumJam

I know that mamma means maternal uncle in Tamil.

But that was no reason for them to choose to refer to them as their maternal uncle.

    Aavle Marriyadhi kuddikkele.

  • @kannurkarran

"mamak" comes from "Māmmā", tamil word for maternal uncle (uncle from your mother side)

  • Mamak is the shorter version of the name Mohammed. Kedai Mohammed= kedai mamak. Try saying Mohammed fast, Five times Malay style and you then get the idea.

"Adik, pegi kedai Mohammed beli kelapa parut satu biji"

  • lol this is a great documentary even if it is a parody. love for mamak...

  • mamak food are very expensive and unhygienic. better don't go and waste your money.

  • bangsar rite?
