  • Thanks, i will try and get my soft dad to be consistant, i hope this works, because he is the most lovely collie, and it would be a shame to have him on a leash when our younger relatives come around,

    Thank you again!

  • This method works for dogs of any age but your timing will have to be good (start rewarding BEFORE your dog even has the chance to jump). If you miss that then wait it out & as soon as your pup puts all four on the ground reward - you don't even have to wait for a sit at this point. Here's the hardest part: you and EVERYONE who meets your dog must be consistent. Any attention while jumping is reinforcing - even the typical "off", "no", "down" and all those wasted words we bark at our dogs.

  • Hey, i love this video and the one on autosit, but is this technique good for a older puppy?

    My family has recently adopted a 7 month old Border Collie, and are struggling with both jumping and sitting

    I will try these tecniques as well as booking some obedience classes, but would appreciate your opinion

    thanks =D

  • Yes, I am using their kibble (given to me by the rescue organization). Puppies are often very motivated by simple food. I feed them their meals with training and other food games (hide/seek food, kongs, buster cubes, that round rubber food toy - anything but a simple bowl which is such a waste of opportunity)
