called launch control...had one on my honda and it was on the chipped ecu, it cut fuel instead of spark. MSD setups can be made to cut spark.

what kind of exhaust are you running? it sounds good, i'm trying to decide on an exhaust setup i'd like to be loud as possible.

A real Anti-lag system (2 step) Only fires when you lift off the gas and the turbo is spooling down, to keep up boost pressure. So why was his firing at throttle in neutral and not when he was shifting?

it's a 2 step or anti lag it retards the timing a shitload and ends up backfiring because the fuel isn't burning in the cham]ber but in the exhaust

The smoke and flames are not indications of needing a rebuild. They are due to unburnt gasoline igniting in the exhaust piping.
This appears to be due to some kind of 2-step that helps spool up the turbo. This isn't just a fun device that wastes gas... It's a performance mod.
As far as rebuild, he probably rebuilt it SO he could have fun like this, not because it's broken.
