THE ROLL-UP TO REBIRTH

Just back from Australia. Thanks to everyone who came out to the Brisbane symphony concert and the Kings Park concert in Perth. Both were fantastic nights. I also had a great time talking to a million journalists and radio people about the record coming out in Feb. There are some big themes on it, so it provoked lots of interesting discussion.

When we made the album, I recorded a cover of John Lennon's "Woman is the Nigger of the World", which will be a b-side to one of the singles off the record. I have always loved this song, and it is tied in to the themes of the album. Of course, back when it was released, and still now, many people are unable to get past the use of the 'N' word in the title to look at what the song is really saying...

I like Ben's version better than John Lennon, however it's not a song I think that needed to be redone. I'm black, a woman, and an artist and I don't care for this song.
