Knowing Me Knowing You

No more carefree laughter
Silence ever after
Walking through an empty house, tears in my eyes
Here is where the story ends, this is goodbye

Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
There is nothing we can do
Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
We just have to face it, this time we're through
(This time we're through, this time we're through
This time we're through, we're really through)
Breaking up is never easy, I know but I have to go
(I have to go this time
I have to go, this time I know)
Knowing me, knowing you
It's the best I can do

Mem'ries (mem'ries), good days (good days), bad days (bad days)
They'll be (they'll be), with me (with me) always (always)
In these old familiar rooms children would play
Now there's only emptiness, nothing to say

Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
There is nothing we can do
Knowing me, knowing you (ah-haa)
We just have to face it, this time we're through
(This time we're through, this time we're through
This time we're through, we're really through)
Breaking up is never easy, I know but I have to go
(I have to go this time
I have to go, this time I know)
Knowing me, knowing you
It's the best I can do

  • @honeybomb1968 I completely agree.

Because of their silly outfits early in their career they were typecast as disco and silly pop.

But, anyone with an appreciation and ear for music recognizes the genius behind ABBA. They had the perfect combination, never equalled. The beautiful girls, the tremendous lyrics, gorgeous melodies and music, and the way the girls had the third voice.

They are unique, probably never to be equalled again.

  • God, I love this song. Frida is just amazing, especially live. The way she holds those notes, those sad looks towards Benny....anyone else know what I mean? I can't stop watching this performance.

  • perhaps a fitting song for the last performance. Ani-Frid and Agnetha had a sad look. 1 of my favorite ABBA tunes. I heard they were the top selling group of all time. totally unique.

  • @jimsf415 I totally agree with you...the sad looks...they must have known that this was going to be one of their last times together...it made this already emotional song even deeper...and they made this last performance count...they were and still are unmatched in the music world.

  • @SuperDrJeckyl I actually love their outfits and their music. And this is coming from someone who listens to everything from Iron Maiden to Tchaikovsky to The Monkees to Taylor Swift to anything I like.

  • This performance brings tears into my eyes...I know the history of this song and it brings up the memories of the divorce of my mother and father after 30 years of marriage and my dad's death only a year later...sad!

  • @SuperDrJeckyl No doubt at all that the musicians are anything but excellent, but after this was recorded, ABBA were in the studio for almost a week overdubbing and mixing what you hear here. The performances are still great though, especially Gimme gimme gimme and my favourite 'live' performance of Summer night city.

  • @discogareth I have to disagree with you a bit. I think this performance beats their studio performances. Some of their earlier performances might not have matched the studio magic, but when they toured with this lineup here I think they were just as good if not a bit better. The background singers here made up for the oberdubbed studio vocals. At this point they had a serious rocking band here.

  • I can never listen to this performance enough. Frida puts such heartfelt emotion into this song, and watch and listen to Agnetha at the 3:16 mark, too.

Man I miss this music so much. With very rare exceptions, people just don't put the love and care into music like this.

  • I love you ABBA. CHRIST bless you! I love Sweden and Stockholm. blessings from GEORGIA(Caucasus, not U.S.A).

  • @curefreak When ABBA recorded in the studio. Most parts were always overdubbed twice (usually at a different speed, slightly out of tune) to give a rich full sound. This is why there are 2 leads here. Vocals were also overdubbed this way, giving that magic sound they have. ABBA live were never as good as ABBA in the studio. They are the first to admit that. Any released live material is also heavily overdubbed. Fan recordings will let you hear the true live ABBA.

  • 200 years from now people will listen to ABBA like people nowerdays listen to Mozart and Bach!
