"Chi perde un momento" (Ben Abdeslam, "Giulio Cesare")

From Glyndebourne, 2005. Moroccan countertenor Rachid Ben Abdeslam sings Nireno's aria - and dances it, too, in delightful Bollywood style, complete with back-up dancers. Nireno is the Egyptian Queen Cleopatra's confidant.

Recitative and aria from the multi-award-winning, famous and fabulous, funny and moving production of Handel's "Giulio Cesare in Egitto" by DavidMcVicar, set in late 19th-century colonial Egypt with the Redcoats keeping Cesare's Roman Empire running.

With William Christie directing the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.

He podido conocer a Rachid en el concierto que Lachrimae Consort ofreció en la iglesia de Santa María de la localidad de San Vicente de la Barquera (Cantabria, España). Verle de cerca es impresionante tanto por poder admirar la riqueza de matices de su voz, el dominio que tiene del canto y sobre todo, por la manera tan personal y brillante que tiene de interpretar. Además es un tipo muy amable que no tuvo reparos en estar con el público un rato después del concierto.

Je suis sous le charme de cette voix et de ce chanteur que je vais aller voir à la salle Pleyel le 9 Fevrier..Je l'ai vu récemment à Grenade dans un magnifique récital de musique ancienne mauresque..les gens pleuraient d'émotion , quel artiste !!!
