Applegate Lake, Southern Oregon, Father's Day 2010

This is one of our great local lakes, about 30 minutes from my house. I believe the snowy mountain is Mt. Ashland, I will have to double check my maps.We are planning on spending quite a bit of time here in the early part of summer. As it gets hotter, we will probably be heading to the higher lakes.

that a natural lake? certainly beautiful. Not that some of the lakes here haven't taken on a "natural" look, but there is still something missing.

@usframe - Actually, it's a man-made lake. When it is full it covers roughly 980 to 990 acres. They will keep it full until mid-August, then start dropping it down. It is used to maintain a healthy river habitat down stream, as well as for flood control during the rainy seasons.

@CampfireTalk -Most of us native locals take the beauty of this region for granted. A friend of mine lives in the mid-West. She posted some pictures of a day they had spent in the "wilderness" and you could see the curvature of the Earth in every pic.
