@XY237 According to the Audacity audio editor forum, there is no easy way to remove the background music and not adversely affect the vocals.

is there any way you could so the opposite of this, edit the back ground music out instead???

Cheers for this. Was doing editing in Audacity and then nothing showing up in Vegas! Was doing my head in! Didn't realise you have to overwrite the audio file. Is there no way to clean up audio (for basic screencasts like this one) within Vegas?

@thesynapseuk Vegas has many built in audio effects, including audio equalizer, audio effects, audio compressor and more. To see how to use these different tools, search the videos in my channel for the word 'audio'

@blackriflex39 If your video is mp4/mov format, it relies on the quicktime codec from Apple during editing. The quicktime codec isn't compatible with all versions of mp4 from all devices. Video clips without audio, or audio and no video are signs of quicktime incompatibility. You can try installing an older version of quicktime, or converting the video to avi. See my YouTube video, 'Solve Mp4 mov video problems using this free Cineform converter'

@guerillabill im trying to edit a avi file video and it lets me put the video but it plays no sound..

@blackriflex39 I'd bet the avi file is not really an avi file, but either a mp4/ or divx with an avi extension. These are typical of downloaded files. You can use the free Gspot codec appliance to view the file and it will show the true nature of the file. Search google for 'Gspot codec detector'.
