In Alexandra Pelosi's latest documentary, "Citizen U.S.A.: A 50 State Road Trip," she takes us on a trip across the country to meet the newest American's and find out why they chose to make the U.S. their home.
@jkdobby I'm a natural born citizen and have alot of nigerian friend's on facebook that wanna come to the united states so bad i feel sorry for them and i don't take being a natural born citizen of the united states for granted i'm a true patriot of my country.
The documentary is pretty bad ass and really makes me, as an American, appreciate what I have.
If you've never been outside the USA, then you have no idea how hard people around the world have to struggle for just the basic necessities. The one message that these immigrants have is for us to stop complaining and be grateful for what we have.
This is was a wonderful film. Its on TV and on demand. There are only 20 states where u see the immigrants interviewed in. Their views for why the United States is great or number 1 makes the rest of the world outside the U.S. seem like its in complete chaos or undemocratic including Canada, Japan and other Western countries. IT makes me wonder what about immigration and diversity in other countries? The U.S. isn't the only country that takes in immigrants.
Is this new HBO documentary propaganda? I really do not know. With few exceptions I see almost nothing false about it. However I really like this film because it demonstrates reasons to love this country. I personally love it so much that I want to restore her to what our founding fathers envisioned -- a free republic. Lately is has been evolving into a closed society. This is why I am so critical of its government.
1:20 Wow! A doc about a "50 State Road Trip" that doesn't even represent the Upper Peninsula as part of Michigan. Did the UP get ceded to Canada and I just happened to miss the news?
How would an illegal get welfare? I bet its now higher for legal citizens with the recession. The largest child homeless rate since the depression. My biggest problem with welfare is education and healthcare are US biggest failures. Other developed countries have tried to subsidize both to a degree. If you can't get a higher education or healthcare you country is doomed for failure. And healthcare costs on employers are too much.Medicare for all and more companies will hire.
when you look at israel, you would see the jews certainly don't believe that way. studies have shown that pride and the feeling of wanting to belong to a team is natural.
@Perseiden2 I can see we're never gonna see eye to eye on this issue. I see diversity as a strength and u believe this will be our demise. I'll end with a quote from the late great George Carlin "I’ve never understood national pride or ethnic pride. Because, to me, pride should be reserved for something you achieved or attained on your own, not something that happens by accident of birth."
