My Indian Ringneck Parrot loves vegetables, so I give him some often. Please don't tell me that my bird is sick, I know that he's not. I am with him everyday and I give him 24/7 attention, give him treats, basically spoil him, let him take baths, and etc. I went to visit my mom for a weekend and my ringneck was only 8 weeks old, then when I came back I saw that he had plucked out almost all of his back feathers, he had taken out all of his tail and only had fuzz, and also his neck and chest had some pulled out. He does not have beak and feather like most tell me. And I didn't know that he wouldn't of been fine with my husband while I left, he missed me and probably thought that I wasn't going to come back. I am not happy and regret this happening. But now I notice that he is getting stems everywhere, and it looks like he is going to have his feathers back and that he might moult soon. Believe me, I am not happy seeing him this way, and I pray that he gets all the feathers back soon. Thanks!

  • healthy bird

  • Do mean healthy cause he's eating vegetables, or cause he doesn't have many feathers?

  • Aww, he's a cutie. Every bird is different. Ringnecks are esp sensitive and he must really like his mom :)

  • Yes he is such a cute bird. I am just hoping that he'll grown back his feathers soon! And yes he loves his mommy, he's so attached to me :)

  • Hey Heather;

    Poncho is so cute, thanks for posting. I have a sencere question. I was reamed out on a bird site for asking about handfeeding a ringneck to help with the human bonding process. Does it help? What is the weaning process and when how old and at what stage of hand feeding did you bring Poncho home? How was this experience for you? did it help with the bonding process? I would really appreciate the feed back. Thank you. Alice
