  • Thank you, thank you, and a triple thank you for posting my favorite Lillian Roth clip that I've seen. She is just fabulous and the slapstick at the end is truly masterful! She was a true delight who deserves to be remembered for her immense talent and charming personality rather than just her unfortunate tragic life story.

  • It is nice to see the performers like Lillian

Roth who could sing live. You can tell the orchestra is just off camera. No lip syncing here. This was the year she made Animal Crackers with The Marx Brothers.

Thanks for letting us enjoy this

  • Shocking. She harassed and battered Jimmy.

  • Lillian Roth is fantastic! Thanks to YouTube and uploaders like perfectjazz78 I've been discovering for the first time the astonishing singers and actors of the 20s and 30s. I fell in love with Lilian Roth when I saw her in Story Conference. Everything I've seen since confirms what a wonderful artist she was. This piece is one of the best!

  • fun... Lillian had a lot of material once you start digging...

she had that pre-code sexiness that was so much fun to watch..

introduced at least a few standards.. "If I Could Be with You" and

"Sing You Sinners" come to mind

  • This is one of my favoutire Lillian Roth clips, especially when she sings. What a sexy voice with tints of sadness in her first song!

  • Fantastic Lillian Roth at her best! What a delight

    to see this sketch.

  • Love this. Thanks so much for posting it. I've just finished reading her autobiography "I'll Cry Tomorrow". It's great to see that some of her work is preserved and available for all of us to see.

  • It is amazing how effortless she sings. Not many singers today (I am thinking American Idol) make it look this easy.

  • damn thats dope how that car is in rhythm when it backfires

    fuckin crazy

  • She was certainly a delight and one of my favorites of the era.

    Thank you!
